Our adoptable dogs are available from fosters or from other shelters

Even though the SOS Chapala DOG Rescue shelter is now closed we still have dogs of different sizes, age and breed available for adoptions who are currently in foster care or at another shelter. All these dogs have received the following medical care:

Health screening and veterinary examination
Spay/Neuter
Distemper combination vaccination
Bordetella Vaccination
Flea treatment and preventative
Rabies Vaccination
Deworming for intestinal parasite

Bongo

Toby

Toby is currently being fostered at Bone Voyage Dog Rescue.

This adorable small American Bull Dog/Boxer mix will grab on and hold onto to your heart and love you forever. Meet Toby: handsome, friendly, playful, athletic and always exuberantly happy. (He has this adorable habit of dancing back and forth from one front paw to another whenever he thinks a human may visit or take him for a walk.) He is about four years old, weighs 18.6 kilos (41 pounds), and has a beautiful red and white coat.

In a recent trip away from the shelter, Toby hopped in the car only after his host got in the car. He was comfortable and appeared to enjoy the car ride. After arriving at the host's home, Toby jumped right out of the car and started exploring. He seemed to be house trained. And, at family meal time, while he displayed an interest in the food, like many dogs, he didn't beg. He waited patiently, sitting quietly near the dining table while his hosts had lunch. (They gave him a treat of scraps afterward!)

Toby is friendly with other dogs and has been housed with a few different dogs in the short time he has been at the shelter. He still needs more leash training although he appears to have experience walking off leash. He responds well to being called and being directed. Toby is a lively, happy boy who would just love to be adopted by an individual or family—-maybe you?—-who will give him a good life, plus plenty of exercise and outdoor adventures. In return, Toby promises to be your best pal, and your devoted, loving companion!

Lovey

Lovey is currently being fostered at Bone Voyage Dog Rescue.

Lovey lives up to her name. That’s really all you need to know about this pretty girl. She is a large blonde dog, about lab size, who would love to spend the balance of her years in a loving home. Lovey is one of the more mature dogs at the shelter, but she is healthy and beautiful.

Lovey landed in the shelter and all we know is that she came from less-than-ideal circumstances. She certainly has not let that bear on her opinion of people, though. She is calm and affectionate and enjoys a walk. She walks well on a leash and is easy to handle. She loves a treat, too.

Don’t believe that you can’t teach old dogs new tricks; an older dog is calmer and has a longer attention span. None of us like the idea of being alone in our later years. Older dogs need love, too. Maybe you could give Lovey what we are all craving ourselves—a home in the company of someone who loves us. She has plenty of life left and she has lots of love to give. She is so much more than her age.
