URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Scruffy's Doggie Oasis Rescue and Adoption Center Closure
Update from Flower Fowler (November 25, 2023)

When Scruffy's Doggie Oasis/Stray Dogs of Mexico was forced to close its doors two months ago--sheltering at the time about 80 dogs (including 8 puppies that were dumped)--many expected the worst. Surely some of the dogs, for lack of a home to send them to, would have to be put down. Everyone steeled themselves for the worst. Well, the miraculous news is that, during these two months, we have been able to get over 40 dogs adopted or moved to safe places including Bone Voyage Dog Rescue, Lucky Dog Rescue and Adoption Center and rescues in the U.S.A and Canada. And, thanks to your support, we have secured a safe haven (boarding, foster homes, etc.) for the remaining 34 dogs as they wait patiently, anxiously for their journey to Seattle, WA.

We want to express our deepest appreciation for your steadfast support during this challenging time. Your generosity has been a lifeline for both the shelter and the animals within. Frankly, what you have accomplished was nothing short of miraculous.

As we embark on this final leg of their journey, we invite you to continue your support through the following ways:

1. Be a Flight Angel: Consider becoming a Flight Angel by accompanying the dogs on their trip to Seattle. The fees for the dog transport will be paid for and they will be checked-in by our volunteers on your flight. We may be able to subsidize your fare.

2. Adopt: All the remaining dogs are available for adoption until their flight schedule is finalized. If you are interested in adopting one, visit our web page – Contact Flower Fowler at for additional information.

3. Donate to one of the area rescue organization: Thanks for your generosity, we have achieved our fundraising goal for now to care for the remaining dogs until their trip to Seattle, WA. With the shelter closing, the other dog rescue organizations Lakeside like Bone Voyage, Lucky Dog, The Ranch, Clicker Pets and others will take the brunt of having less dog rescues here. Your support for these organization will be badly needed now more than ever.

We are immensely grateful for your ongoing support, and we believe that, together, we can continue to create miracles in the lives of these deserving animals.

Thank you for being a beacon of hope, for creating miracles.

8 Abandoned Puppies Seek Foster Care as Shelter Faces Closure

Update: All puppies are in foster care currently.

Nov 2 2023 - Scruffy's Doggie Oasis/Stray Dog of Mexico, on the brink of closing its doors, found itself in a precarious situation when 8 adorable puppies were abandoned on its doorstep.

These vulnerable little ones, just a few weeks old, now urgently need foster homes to provide them with love, care, and warmth during the crucial early stages of their lives. The shelter's impending closure adds a sense of urgency to the situation, as they need to find temporary fosters until the end of January when they can be transferred to another shelter or adopted locally.
